An Exciting Venture

I was introduced to a new business contact by a very old friend and team-mate, John Beresford. John you will remember had a long footballing career, playing for the likes of Portsmouth and Newcastle in the Premier League.

I first met John when we were growing up in Sheffield, he was at Gleadless Valley School with myself at Jordanthorpe. We both went on to represent Sheffield Boys and England Schools Under-15’s before leaving school at 16 and both travelling over the Pennines, me to start an apprenticeship at Manchester United, and John the same with Manchester City.

Many years later we met up again playing for the PFA team in the Hong Kong ‘Soccer Sevens’, it was here that we discussed our current businesses we were involved in, and subsequently John put me in touch with one of his friends and business partners: David Mee.

I met David on several occasions and he mentioned a patented bottle design that he had been working on. We decided that we would look to develop the concept, and two years later we are now looking to take it to the market. The bottle is very unique and has a strong sporting focus – so fits in very well with things that I’m interested in.

I can’t say too much right now, but it’s a very exciting and ambitious challenge, and as this is one my primary interests I will be telling you all about it very soon!
